Great Asphalt Game, But In Need of Maintenance
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Asphalt series, since I played the first one on the Nintendo DS. I’ve played the series out of order, and after jumping from 1 to 6, back to 4 and then to 8, I had to make sure I was playing the same series or not. Asphalt has grown into a fantastic series that I think a racing genre fan of a gamer that likes the thrill of speed and the idea of wrecking your competition will get a kick out of.
The game is in Version 1.0.9, and OS X is in Version 10 as of this review. There are issues with the game that I wish Gameloft could come back and fix, such as the game crashing during the opening cinematic. If you let the scene play out, the game most likely will crash if you have OS X Yosemite (Version 10) on your Mac, but I tried clicking to skip the cutscene at the very beginning, after that I had access to the rest of the game, and tried restarting the game multiple times just to be sure.
You know a game is fun when you can get me to play through five cups in a row in a few minutes. The controls feel wonderful on a keyboard, everything is butter smooth, the only thing I’d love to see some extra attention to is graphics. Sure, this is meant for mobile devices, but putting this game on a computer should take advantage of it.
Overall, a fantastic game. If you’re looking for something realistic or more, you might want to look at some other games in the series, or another series altogether. But for $6.99, I think it’s worth it as a distraction, but I’d also like two of those dollars back.
